Window XP Tablet PC Edition offers all of the Windows XP security features and functionality of Window XP Professional Edition with added enhancements for pen-based computing.
It has the performance and capabilities of today's notebook PC. but with more Tablet PC Windows XP options for greater mobility.
It is the ideal solution for people who are on the move, whether you are on your way to an appointment, at a customer location, in a hallway, or at home on a couch.

Two versions are available.
- Windows XP Tablet PC Edition - The original release.

System Requirements
There are no clear specific system requirements as they are provided pre-installed on Tablet PC Windows XP.

Upgrading to Vista
Possible to upgrade to Business and Ultimate edition of Windows Vista.
An upgrade version can be legally used to perform a clean install of Windows Vista as a replacement for Tablet PC Windows XP Edition.

Technology
Ink:
- Utilize the Ink object as a means of data input and storage.
- A data type to manipulate and process handwritten data, including recognition results and pressure information for each stroke.

- Applications allow handwritten notes to be filtered and searched through.
Handwriting Recognition:
- Input Panel allows handwriting to be converted into text for use in most non-text applications.
- Can recognize print, cursive or mixed writing.
- Can be configured to expect left or right-handed writing.
- A variety of languages are available with a recognizer pack.
- Cannot be trained to recognize a particular handwriting syle in order to use this feature effectively.
