Window XP Professional Upgrade - Step by Step
A Window XP Professional upgrade is a good option if you have an earlier version of Windows or Window XP Home Edition.
There are literally millions of computers that could use the features in Window XP Professional.
By visiting Home Edition vs Professional Edition, you'll be able to check out each feature.
Probably the easiest upgrade is to upgrade Windows XP Home edition to Window XP Professional Edition.
Upgrade Windows XP Home Edition
The Window XP Home Edition was released the same time as the Window XP Professional Edition.
More than likely it has enough RAM - Random Access Memory, Hard Drive space, CPU - Central Processing Unit speed that it requires to run properly.
I think one of the biggest gains would be in Windows XP Security which would be a big plus in today's society.
With today's virus', popups, adwares, spam, stealing personal and financial information, you would be hard pressed not to protect your computer.
My personal opinion is you should do a Microsoft Windows XP Upgrade as soon as possible from a Window XP Home Edition.
So where do you start and how do you know whether to upgrade Windows XP Home edition or not?
Windows XP System Requirements
The first step would be to check your computer's hardware to see if it meets the Windows XP System Requirements.
I would say the newer the system the better prospects you would have of meeting those requirements.
The primary factors to investigate are:
Whichever version of Windows is on your computer select "My Computer".
On the right side of the "My Computer" window, right click the mouse button on drive "(C:)" or "(D:)" (the Hard Drive that has your Windows operating system) and select "Properties".
Note the "Total Capacity" of the Hard Drive.
On the left column of the "My Computer" window, select "Control Panel".
On the right side of the "Control Panel" window, select "System".
In the "System Properties" window, note the following:
The RAM - Random Access Memory requirements would probably be the most important because your computer performance would not be slower than before your Window XP Professional upgrade.
Now go to the Windows XP System Requirements and compare your findings with the requirements for Windows XP.
If your findings on your computer meet or exceed the requirements, you should be able to do a Window XP Professional upgrade.
When you're ready, go to Install Window XP Professional.
