Window XP Home Edition - Home Use

Window XP Home Edition is mainly designed for home use while Window XP Professional Edition is for the business world.

The Window XP Home Edition opened a whole new world for the home user by making the PC easier to use while being fun and productive.

Since moving back to Hawaii, I've had the privilege of helping many of my friends and relatives to start using the computer for the first time.

It's theme is experience (XP) and designed to enable a whole new generation of users experience that reality is as good as the promise.

The Window XP Home Edition features as digital photography, digital video, digital music, the Internet, mobile computing, the Windows XP home networking, Windows XP home security, real-time communications, and a variety of other experiences are available.

Women love to email and communicate with friends and family by sharing pictures and news.

Men like to keep up with the news and take care of their finances.

Window XP Home Edition Features

Windows XP Digital Media Experiences

My wife loves to work with photos from our camera and importing them into the computer.

She uses Google's Picasa which tracks all the graphics files on your PC.

The pictures may be touched up by Picasa and when satisfied can be sent by email via the internet to anywhere in the world.

She also receives lots of email from family and friends who seldom wrote slow mail but would respond by email often.

There's always interesting slide shows, pictures, news, etc. we're receiving from others which we share with others.

Home Networking Windows XP and Internetworking

My wife just started using a computer even though I've been using computers since 1960.

By getting her own computer, it made it easier for her to use the computer instead of having to share it with me.

So by networking Windows XP home computers for my wife and I using a router, we can share files with each other.

By connecting the router to a cable modem, we can both surf the net without disturbing the other.

Now I have to look to see if she's on the computer because the house is so quiet.

More likely than not she's either checking her email, writing an email or surfing the net.

Real-time Communications

My son lives in New Zealand with his family so we communicate with them over the internet with Google Talk and save long distance calls.

We also use a web cam along with a microphone to see video images of my granddaughter growing up so fast.

We were able to see where they live and the inside of the house. It was almost like being there.

My granddaughter was so excited to see us on the computer screen and talking to us real-time.

Amazing how all of this technology is available for us for practical use.

When my high school is telecasting it's annual song contest it is being viewed worldwide through the internet so alumni, friends and family can see it real-time.

Hardware and Software Compatibility

With past operating systems, compatibility between software and hardware was a major problem.

With Windows XP Home Edition, the compatibility problems disappeared and everthing works seamlessly.

Of course, there are some compatible problems but the bulk of them went away.

Whether you're running a new software or hardware the chances are a driver exists for it.

If the software or hardware driver is not working, you can download it via the internet from the vendor the proper driver to get around most problems.

Reliability and Stability

With previous operating systems, there was the horrid blue screen when the system would freeze up.

I can honestly say I've been using my XP since it first came out and I've never had a blue screen.

The Help and Support application offers a one-stop shop for all your support needs.

You can ask a friend or a help desk support for help with remote assistance via the internet to offer assistance with any problems.

Windows XP Home Edition update

You can download the latest Windows XP Home Edition update via the internet with the automatic updates or Windows XP Updates features to keep your system current.

There are tools such as Window XP Backup and restore which will provide the Windows XP home security you need in case something catastrophic happens to your system.

This concludes the Window XP Home Edition features.

Conclusion

So comparing all the features of previous windows operating systems, the Window XP Home Edition enables a new generation of users to start using computers for home use.

So if you know anyone who's been thinking of using a computer for home use, tell them the time is now.
