Setup Outlook Express - Get You Started
When you buy your computer, setup Outlook Express is the first thing you need to do before you can use it.
It is already installed with the Windows XP operating system.
Outlook Express is the email client software which connects to the mail servers of your internet service provider (ISP).
There are two mail servers that need to be connected to with a password - the incoming (POP) and the outgoing (SMTP).
The setup process will allow you to connect to these mail servers.
The Setup Outlook Express Process
The first step would be to load Outlook Express.
Load Outlook Express
Select Start, Outlook Express to load the Outlook Express window below.

Select the (+) sign to the left of the Local Folders.
That should reveal the Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Drafts folders.
Internet Accounts
Go to the Menu toolbar on the top of the Outlook Express window and select Tools > Accounts.

Select the Mail tab > Add button on the top right > Mail.

Enter into the Display Name: window your name that you want others to see when they receive your email > Next.

Enter the email address you would like to use such as johnsmith@hawaii.rr.com > Next.
Note - Enter the Account Name assigned to you by the ISP (Look at your Contract Agreement) just before the @ sign.

Enter the POP Server and the SMTP Server from your internet service provider (ISP) > Next.
Note - Use a Google Seach for your ISP's POP and SMTP servers.
- Using your Contract Agreement from your ISP, enter your Password.

The Account Name: is already entered so just enter your Password > Next.

Select Finish > Close.
You have completed the Setup Outlook Express Process and should start to see your email coming in to your Inbox folder.
