The Microsoft Power Point slide show will help you to learn how to use the Power Point software.

By following these instructions, you'll be creating a presentation slide show without being an expert.

Microsoft has made it super easy when you use the resources they provided which includes templates you can choose from.

After you create your first Power Point slide show, you'll want to start another one because it's actually fun.

Introduction of the Microsoft Power Point slide show

We'll be creating a Power Point slide show that will explain how I created this website.

When we finish you'll want to create your own Microsoft Power Point slide show following the same steps.

So let's get started.

Start Power Point

The first thing you need to do with the Microsoft Power Point slide show is to start PowerPoint and become familiar with it's PowerPoint Window.

  • Select "Start" at the left bottom corner of the Desktop screen.
  • Select "All Programs" (which is just above "Start", "Office" (may be missing), "Microsoft PowerPoint".

The Microsoft Power Point slide show will help you to become familiar with the PowerPoint Window.

  • At the top of the PowerPoint Window, you can see three to four horizontal bars.
    • The first row is the Title Bar and shows "Microsoft PowerPoint - Presentation1" (default).
    • The second row is the Menu Bar (default).
    • The third row is the Standard Toolbar.
    • The fourth row is the Formatting Toolbar.
  • If the Standard Toolbar is missing:
    • On the Menu Bar, select "View", "Toolbars", "Standard".
  • If the Formatting Toolbar is missing:
    • On the Menu Bar, select "View", "Toolbars", "Formatting".
  • Below the Formatting Toolbar are the Outline Tab, Slides Tab, Notes Pane, Slide, and Task Pane.
  • The View buttons below the Slide and Outline tabs are the Normal View, Slide Sorter View, Slide Show (from current slide).
  • To the right of the Slide Area is the Task Pane showing:
    • Open a Presentation
    • New
    • New from existing Presentation
    • New from Template
  • To prepare for the Microsoft Power Point slide show, do not close the Task Pane.
    • To get the Task Pane back if you should close it by mistake:
      • On the Menu Bar, select "View", "Task Pane".

The Microsoft Power Point slide show is about to begin now that you're ready to start.

SBI! Quick Tour

Presentation Template

The first thing the Microsoft Power Point slide show will show you is how to start with a presentation template.

  • With your mouse pointer, in the Task Pane to the right, under New from template, select "General Templates".
  • In the Templates window, select the "Design Templates" tab on the top and select the "Global" template.

Title

The second step the Microsoft Power Point slide show will show you is how to create a title.

  • With your mouse pointer, select the "Click to add title" box and select anywhere on the text in the box.
  • Key in "SBI! Quick Tour" (without the quotes) into the box.
  • Highlight "SBI! Quick Tour" with the mouse.
    • Hold the left mouse button down and slide the mouse over the letters.
  • On the top left side of the Formatting Toolbar, change the font size to 28.
  • By means of the dots around the box, adjust the box smaller around the text.
  • Move the mouse pointer on the box perimeter until you see a cross-arrow.
  • Hold the left mouse button down and move the box to the top left corner of the slide.

The Microsoft Power Point slide show will show you how to save your presentation.

Saving Your Presentation

  • On the Menu Toolbar, select File, Save As.
  • In the Save As Dialog window at the bottom, Key in the "File Name" window, "SBI! Quick Tour" without the quotes.
  • If you have a folder to save the SBI! Quick Tour, find the folder and select Save.
  • If you don't have a folder to save this file and would like to create a folder:
    • On the top of the Save As Dialog window, select the downward pointing triangle to the right of the "Save In:" window.
    • Select drive C: (or whichever drive you want).
    • On the top of the Save As Dialog window and to the right, select the "Create New Folder" icon.
    • In the New Folder window, key in Your Personal Name, select OK.
    • Select the "Create New Folder" icon again, key in "Microsoft Power Point Slide Show", select OK, select Save.
  • From this point forward, to save your file frequently, just go to the Standard Toolbar, select the "Save" icon (the third icon from the left - Floppy disk).
  • If you should mess up the slide show by mistake (which happens) and have been saving it periodically (as per the directions):
    • On the Menu Toolbar, select File, Close.
    • If you are asked to save the file or not, DO NOT SAVE THE FILE.
    • On the Standard Toolbar, select the "Open" icon (second from the left).
    • In the Open Dialog window, in the "Look in:" window, select the downward point triangle.
    • Go to the folder you created where your slide show file is saved and open it.

So far the Microsoft Power Point slide show has gotten you to the point where you now have a file saved on your hard disk.

Subtitle

The next thing Microsoft Power Point slide show will show is how to create a Subtitle.

  • With your mouse pointer, select the "Click to add subtitle" box and select anywhere on the text in the box.
  • Key in "Imagine If" (without the quotes) into the box.
  • Highlight "Imagine If" with the mouse.
    • Hold the left mouse button down and slide the mouse over the letters.
  • On the top left side of the Formatting Toolbar, change the font size to 28.
  • By means of the dots around the box, adjust the box smaller around the text.
  • Move the mouse pointer on the box perimeter until you see a cross-arrow.
  • Hold the left mouse button down and move the box to the top left corner of the slide.

The Microsoft Power Point slide show will show you how to complete the presentation.

Complete the Presentation

The next thing Microsoft Power Point slide show will show you how to create the rest of the paragraphs.

  • With your mouse pointer, select the "Text Box (with the A in it)" on the bottom of the window.
  • Move the mouse pointer into the slide area just under the subtitle.
  • Hold the left mouse button down and move the mouse to the right and down about a square.
  • Key in "... You could build a professional website and drive thousands of targeted, open-to-buy visitors to it, every day? Now imagine doing it.
    • Hold the left mouse button down and slide the mouse over the letters.
  • On the top left side of the Formatting Toolbar, change the font size to 14.
  • Hold the left mouse button down and highlight "every" with the mouse.
  • On the formatting toolbar, select the Bold icon and the Italisized icon.
  • Highlight "Now imagine" and select the Bold icon.
  • Press the "Enter" key.

Complete three Bullet Points

  • Move the mouse pointer to the Formatting Toolbar, select the Bullets icon, press the space bar on the keyboard once.
  • Key in "all by yourself, regardless of subject or business", press the Enter key
  • Key in "with a simple all tools-in-one-place process", press the Enter key
  • Key in "for less than a dollar a day.", press the Enter key, press the Backspace key once.

Complete the Subheading

  • Key in "You can make this happen… with Site Build It!" press the Enter key.
  • Highlight "You can make this happen… with Site Build It!" by holding the left mouse button down and sliding the mouse over the words.
  • Change the "Font Size" to 20, select the "Bold" icon, the "Center" icon and with the down arrow, move down to the next row.

Complete the Next Two Paragraphs

  • Key in "Do you have a particular skill (cartoonist, fitness trainer, copywriter) or passion/knowledge (Siamese cats, chocolate, premium coffees, mountain climbing or sports cars, favorite city or Caribbean island, etc.)? Convert that into a Web site -- the content attracts interested visitors, who in turn generate profits for your new business." press the Enter key.
  • Highlight the words, "passion/knowledge" with the mouse and select the "Bold" icon on the Formatting Toolbar and move down one row with the down arrow.
  • Key in "Or perhaps you already have a business, online or off? Sell your services and/or products by attracting warm, willing-to-buy visitors.", press the Enter key twice.
  • Highlight the words, "Or", "services" and "products" with the mouse and select the "Bold" icon on the Formatting Toolbar and move down two rows with the down arrow.

  • Key in "Let us show you how Site Build It! (SBI!) does it, in just a few clicks. Take the SBI! Quick Tour...".
  • Highlight the closing paragraph with the mouse and select the "Font Size" 14 and the "Bold" icon on the Formatting Toolbar.

The Microsoft PowerPoint slide show has completed your first slide. Whew!!

Well, you finally finished your very first slide.

As you can see, there's a lot of repetition and once you get the hang of it you start to move rapidly.

You started with a Title, and went on to a Subtitle.

You keyed in paragraphs with bullets using the Formatting Toolbar to higlight words and phrases with Bold and Font Size.
