AVG Free Edition only protects against viruses.

So if you want protection against spyware, spam and hackers, upgrade to AVG Internet Security which is not free.

I just use AVG Free Edition to protect against viruses and use other free software to protect against spyware, spam and hackers.

I'm very happy with the AVG Free Edition because it does a good job.

It checks for viruses on your hard drive folders and files, and your email coming in and going out.

It checks for updates automatically without you having to do it.

It scans for viruses automatically so you don't have start the scan.

So far, I've never had a virus to worry about like another anti virus program I know of which is not free.

I have complete confidence that my hard drive folders and files are free from any viruses.

I also have complete confidence that any email coming in is free from viruses.

I know that because it has a message on the bottom of every incoming email indicating that AVG checked the email and it's free from any viruses.

It does the same thing for all outgoing email which gives you confidence that you're not sending viruses to anyone.

So I can personally recommend AVG Free Edition if you want to protect you against viruses only.
