How to Buy a New Computer...
How to buy a new computer can be a challenge if you don't know what to look for.
Friends would ask me:
- What is the price range?
- Where should I go?
- Which computer manufacturer should I look at?
- Which features should I pay attention to?
My response would be:
- If he didn't have a computer, I would invite him to come over when he has a chance and I'll show him what to look for.
- If he has his own computer and has access to the internet, I would ask him to do a search on the internet for "new computer".
- Select one of the websites that show up.
- Start looking at the ads.
- Print some of the ads and note the features.
These are features you should take note:
- CPU (Central Processing Unit) GHz (Gigahertz) speed.
- RAM (Random Access Memory) MB (Mega[million]bytes).
- HDD (Hard Disk Drive) GB (Giga[billion]bytes).
- DVD (Digital Video Disk)/CD-RW (CDROM Drive-Read Write}
- Graphics Display Adapter
- WLAN Wide/Local Area Network
- Video Monitor 14.1" 17.0".
